Come Out! Come Out

Come Out! Come Out!

New Song and Dance Musical Premiers at

Wilton Theatre Factory-The Foundry through March 29

Jacob is a young man who wants it all. He wants love, a house, a spouse, a career, kids.  But Jacob is Gay, and it’s 1929.  A time when engaging in homosexual activity could get you arrested, beaten, even killed. Despite the dangers, gay men found areas where they could meet for clandestine trysts. Most settled for fleeting physical gratification. But some wanted more. Some longed for affection. Jacob just wants to be kissed… by another man.  Jacob lives in two worlds. The first is the drab day to day where he cannot be himself and the second is a colorful fantasy world where he tap dances in the Park with men and his fantasies come true.

See this high energy, light hearted, yet poignant new musical filled with music from the Roaring 20s and joyous tap dancing. Think Eddie Cantor meets Fred Astaire in Central Park.

This new musical, created by award winning local playwright, Ronnie Larsen, Come Out! Come Out! will run through March 29th. Performances are Wednesday-Friday at 8:30, Saturday at 4:00 and 8:30 and Sunday at 3:00 at The Foundry at The Wilton Theatre Factory, 2306 North Dixie Highway, in Wilton Manors.

The cast is composed of NYC actor/dancers including Greyson Wade (All Shook Up, The Drowsy Chaperone), Chris Carranza (Newsies, West Side Story), Dom Giovanni (Singing In The Rain, Charlie Brown Christmas) and Zac Swartout (Nickelodeon, Holiday Inn ).   The production is co-directed by Ronnie and NYC Producer/Director Michael Mills. Australian Choreographer Kurt Phelan and NYC and now Ft. Lauderdale Music Director Bobby Peaco round out the creative team.

“I wrote this piece as a reminder that our newly found rights and freedoms cannot be taken for granted” says author Larsen, “The things our main character wants are what we all want. He was just way ahead of his time.”  Director Mills adds, “There are 12 vintage songs in this musical. Tap, soft-shoe, waltz and over-the-top vaudevillian numbers bring this heart-warming show to life.  The reality of what Gay men wanted in the 1920’s still rings true 100 years later.

Tickets for Come Out! Come Out! are $35 for general admission, and $50 for the front row VIP experience. Tickets are available at RonnieLarsen.com along with more information, pictures, and video clips of the show.
