“Pride means so much to so many of us, and to have the opportunity to share my live performance during Pride has always been a dream,” Monáe said in a statement. “Celebrating Pride in NYC is a rite of passage for a queer person, I am grateful for the community it creates and I can’t wait to party with everyone.
This will be the first time the “Make Me Feel” singer has performed at any Pride since coming out back in 2018, though she was seen attending New Orleans Pride last year.
“Being able to see that community at pride and in New Orleans, to see them celebrating, dancing, laughing, just not having a care in the world for those two hours I was there was just a sight to see,” Monáe said at the time. “I encourage everyone, even if you’re not a part of the LGBTQIA+ community to go and experience that joy.”
