Q&A: Alan Bersten Talks ‘DWTS’ Live Tour 2020

America’s favorite dance show is going back on tour this winter with “Dancing with the Stars – Live Tour 2020.” The longest tour to date will be dancing through Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 8 pm. The all-new production will feature fan-favorite professional dancers wowing audiences with every type of dance style as seen on ABC’s hit show Dancing with the Stars. The show continues its legacy of performing show stopping routines alongside new numbers choreographed just for the live show ranging from the time-honored dances of the Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Salsa, Tango – and everything in between. The South Florida audience will have the opportunity to experience the excitement, glamour and glitz they see in the ballroom every Monday night.

The tour delivers a spectacular night of dance performances from world-renowned dancers including Brandon Armstrong, Lindsay Arnold, Alan Bersten, Witney Carson, Val Chmerkovskiy, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater, and  sometimes special guests cast members are added.

It was a pleasure to sit down with the Pro-winner of last season, Alan Bersten, for this exclusive Hotspots interview:

At what age did dancing catch your eye?

I started dancing at the age of 7. My parents made me start and I loved it ever since. I am so lucky I get to do something that I loved form such a young age.

How old were you when you entered your first competition?

I think I was 8 or 9 when I started competing. I just loved performing in front of people.

Did you win any competitions?

I won a lot of the locals and did fairly well at the nationals and the regionals.

When did you know dancing would be your career?

When I was 18 I did “So You Think You Can Dance,” and once I made it onto the show I realized I could do this and make a living out of it. Ever since that day I have been lucky enough not only to work but live my dream life.

How did you get cast on Dancing with the Stars?

They called me for an interview after SYTYCD and it fit well. I joined the troupe.

How exciting was it, just a couple months ago, to finally win DWTS for the first time?

I mean it was such a surreal experience. I joined season 20 as a troupe member and season 25 I became a pro, and to win the show was unfathomable to me. I didn’t really think it was possible for me, and to actually win is honestly the highest dream I ever had…and it came true.

Ok, I have to ask, is there anything between you and Hannah Brown (Bachelorette), as your chemistry is undeniable?

Right now no. We are really good friends and developed a good relationship with a lot of trust.

I recently heard about Dancing with the Stars: Journey to Paradise, can you tell me more about that?

Yes, it’s the first time ever and it will be in the Bahamas at the Atlantis, and it will be a weekend of hanging out with a huge cast of current and past pros. It’s going to be incredible. There will be a show, lessons, hanging out with us. It will be the ultimate fan experience.  To purchase tickets and find out more, go to DWTSAtlantis.com.

What should our readers expect from the Dancing with the Stars – Live Tour 2020?

This show is honestly the best show we have ever produced, because it has something for everyone. We have some great numbers form this past season and created some new numbers people have never seen before. The audiences seem to love it. Plus I have my mirror ball that I bring on stage.
