Everything’s Coming Up Billy Porter

Hollywood doesn’t always pan out for someone to be distinctly different from anyone else. Billy Porter has been dancing to the beat of his own drum for years, and Tinseltown is finally catching onto his majesty. Right now, one of the greatest queer performers of our lifetime is getting a lot of love from the LGBT community. Ladies and gays: Billy Porter is here to slay the silver screen, big screen, and red carpet.

Very few men can get away with wearing a full length ball gown to the Oscars, Tony’s, and other big award shows. Yet somehow, Billy Porter shows up in some of the most fashion-forward, gender-bending, ferocious ensembles that the red carpet has ever seen.

There’s been a dramatic shift of fashion-forward men showing up to these events since Billy Porter started destroying them with epicness and these galas will never be the same. His grand entrance to the Met Gala, dressed as an ancient Egyptian sun god, carried in a golden bed by six shirtless muscle studs will go down in the books as one of the grandest entrances ever.

Sure, Billy Porter is a fashion icon, but it his talent as an actor, singer, dancer, and performer that has capitulated him to fame. Billy starred as and took home the Best Actor Tony Award for his Broadway starring roll as Lola in Kinky Boots.

He is currently co-starring in the hit movie Like a Boss, in theaters now, and stars as Pray Tell in the hit queer TV series Pose. Billy Porter has been in hits including The Broken Hearts Club and notable roles in shows,  American Horror Story and The Big C.

A Broadway star, Billy Porter has three solo albums out now and is the recipient of both Grammy and Emmy Awards. When James Corden pulled Billy Porter on stage during the break to sing an impromptu version of the hit Gypsy song “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” during 2019’s Tony Awards a la Carpool Karaoke, he stole the show and slayed the Tony stage, garnering a standing ovation for someone who “didn’t come here to work tonight”.

Recently, Allure Magazine’s cover boy and featured in Taylor Swift’s music video for “You Need to Calm Down,” look out for more fabulousness coming our way from Miss Billy Porter as the fairy godmother in an upcoming Cinderella remake set to come out in 2021 and more episodes of Pose season three are set to come out in 2020, with Porter confirmed as director of an episode.

What will Billy Porter do next? Pray tell, indeed! We’ll see you on the red carpet, Billy!
