In partnership with Maytag.
We moved in April. It’s now July. And we finally cooked our first meal in our new apartment.
A standing ovation, please.
And before you ask, no it’s not because of the plethora of options to dine out in New York. We love to cook! Although, we’re pretty sure we’ll never be able to match up to the dumplings at Hao Noodle…
Our reason for abstaining has really just been a matter of time — racing from one meeting to the next and onward to an event multiple times a week, never really having enough time to plan out and cook a meal ourselves. Just ‘let someone else cook!’ became our NYC city mantra.
The mantra shortly followed by , ‘Just get it now, we’re getting paid on Friday and we live in New York now,’ and ‘Well, if everyone’s staying out this late, we should too!’
Until this past week. We’re dubbing this successful moment of cooking, ‘when we stopped making excuses for ourselves.’ A true moment of progress.
Enter: the powerful capabilities of our new Maytag Double Oven Gas Range with True Convection
Set aside the fact that we now own the sexiest oven in NYC, we used to have to wait 20-30 minutes for our oven to preheat in San Francisco and now we don’t, thanks to the Power Preheat feature. In a matter of minutes, our oven was set to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
The 411: Power Preheat lets you enjoy dinner faster with juicy flavor every time*. Couple that with its Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel, and you have an oven that heats in record time and takes even less time to clean with just water.
What we cooked: In the spirit of a Summer meal and simplicity at its best, we made our famed BBQ Salmon Pineapple Tacos (recipe here) with esquites (a toasted corn salad, also recipe here).
And finally, how long did it take: 20 minutes for prep and cooking.
We grilled the salmon in the oven at 450 degrees (on a grill pan), with the corn and tortillas cooked on top of the stove, using the Power Burner (ranging from 15,000 to 18,000 BTUs) for a slow, even sauté of the corn. A simple and effective Summer recipe, tested through even the small confines of our NYC kitchen.
It’s a lesson learned, honestly, that there is a way to make time. We just needed a new Maytag 30-inch wide double oven You can find the best Maytag range for your space by browsing here!
*Based on single-rack baking with Power Preheat option versus three-rack baking without option selected.
