Party of the Year, LA: EVERYBODY Was There To Celebrate Bryan Rabin’s 50th Birthday (Were YOU?)

Well. My DEARS.

Longtime LA party promoter/producer/man-about-town Bryan Rabin held what was EASILY the party of the year at The Standard, Hollywood (the site of his weekly party “Giorgios”). Everybody who is anybody in the LA scene was there. Except for me. And I’m FURIOUS I had to miss it. (Family emergency).

There were probably too many people to mention, of course (It was THAT kind of affair), but I’ll give it a whirl.

First of all, The performers. WOWZA. What a lineup! Hosted by the incomparable Lisa Edelstein (House/Girlfriends Guide to Divorse/The Kominski Method etc etc), Bryan’s good friends Rufus Wainwright, Michael Des Barres, Donita Sparks & Jennifer Finch of L7, Donovan Leitch, Adam Bravin (DJ Adam 12) all did a number, while Warhol Superstar Cherry Vanilla performed an original poem I’m his honor.

Then there were the glittering attendees. Big breath now, here we go: Writers and fashion reporters George Kotsiopoulos, Merle Ginsberg and Rose Apodaca; make-up artist Kathy Jeung, Male Supermodel Tony Ward and Superstar hairdresser Danilo; Performance Artist Ron Athey; Artist Tatiana Von Furstenberg; photographers Greg Gorman, Andrew Macpherson, Amy Neunsinger, Alix Malka, Albert Sanchez, Carlos Lopez and Andrew Durham; the always fabulous Angela Janklow, and Lauren Gurvitch; TopShop CEO Paul Price;  Stylist Elizabeth Stewart and Emmy Winning producer husband Robert Bragin, Emmy Award Costume Designers Perry Meek and Janie Bryant; Designers Julia Clancey, Paul Thomas, Wolk Morais, and Gucci’s Jennifer Washington, and actresses Monet Mazur and Lola Glaudini

Other music icons in attendance included: Lead Singer of Bananarama & Shakespeare’s Sister Siobhan Fahey, Lead Singer of the Sex Pistols Johnny “Rotten” Lyndon, Drummer Kevin Hasking of Bauhaus & Love and Rockets and Palmolive of the Slits.

I mean…. That’s a helluva group!

Most everybody came dressed as their favorite rock icons, let’s take a look at the pics!

A bit about Bryan:

Bryan Rabin has been a long time staple in nightlife and pop-culture. Presently, he and business partner Adam Bravin founded the now infamous weekly party, Giorgio’s , A Modern Discotheque that takes place at the Standard, Hollywood weekly which has become one of the most exclusive and sexist nightclubs in the country paying homage to disco royalty. As Lina Lecaro noted in a recent LA Weekly article, “a glamorous yet unpretentious, revelrous yet real gathering for people who want to get dressed up, dance their asses off and simply celebrate life in a stylish environment that harkens back to mythic discos of yore like Studio 54.” He was also behind iconic club concept Cherry , was the producer of recent film “Freak Show” opted from a book by James St. James starring Bette Midler, Laverne Cox, and others; and served on the board of Photo 15, 16, and 17 which raised millions for the pending AIDS Monument set to be built in West Hollywood. Bryan’s career has spanned many lifetimes and it was only appropriate to culminate 50 years on this earth spent with a room of icons past to present at the home of Giorgio’s.

Happy birthday, Bryan. Big hug! Love you to pieces!
