Broward Bares It! Fundraiser Comes to New Venue

Broward Bares It!, one of Fort Lauderdale’s most off the wall, fun and sexy fundraising events returns for a 5th year on January 24, in a new home.

The fundraiser, touted as a one night only traipse through the world of Tantalizing Temptations, Titillating Temptresses and Torrid Testosterone, and features local performers and community members, performing a night of burlesque, hot dance routines, and comedy. The theme for the event this year is “The Greatest Showman.”

“This fundraiser began its run in 2010 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, they gave us a trial run by letting us hold it in one of their clubs” said Bill Huelsman, the event’s producer, “The hard rock saw that the event was very successful and decided from then on that they would give us the Paradise Theater, which it ran in, to sold out audiences, for the next three years. The event went on hiatus for a few years while Terry and I were in Orlando, but we are back and so is the show, and in a new home.”

The event this year will be held in the Crystal Ballroom at The Venue, 2345 Wilton Drive from 7-11pm and will feature over 24 acts including: Nicolette, The Boys of Johnsons, Nicole Halliwell, Frank Campisano, Kitty Meow, Angeliki Tasik, Dame Edna, The Boys of Leboy, Daisy Deadpetals, Richard Forbes, The Rainbow Circus, Jennifer McClain, The Lady Butterscotch, Malcolm Neitzey, Velvet Lenore, Kent Truesdell, The Gay Men’s Chorus,

Shemuwel LaVoz, Funk & Flow Dance Studio, Keith Allen, and more.

“We are excited for the return of this event” said Terry DeCarlo, the events director “Bares is always an event where you have no idea what is going to happen on stage, it is always so much fun. When we started this we had no clue if it would work or not, and then it was voted Fort Lauderdale’s favorite event three years in a row, I mean heck, that first year we had the world’s oldest showgirl, at 92, show up onstage and perform for the crowd, it was fun and hysterical.”

The event is sponsored by The Venue, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hotspots Magazine, Outclique Magazine, and Crazy about costumes. The two beneficiaries of the fundraiser, who will split 100% of the proceeds are:
